This warm wood kitchen showcases Bellmont cabinets paired with a luminous white Cambria countertop that brightens the entire space. The white matte and glossy duo tiles add a subtle texture, complemented by sleek matte black Moen fixtures. Open shelves provide a light, airy feel and create a perfect display area for art and elegant china. The L-shaped layout offers ample workspace, making the kitchen the central hub of the living area. High windows and a skylight flood the room with natural light, accentuating the ceiling height and creating an expansive atmosphere. The concrete floor provides a striking contrast to the wood tones, balancing the warmth with a modern edge.
I want a midcentury modern kitchen that’s minimalistic and sleek but still has warm, welcoming elements. I love cooking, so having plenty of countertop space is really important to me.
WORDS FROM THE DESIGNER
Designing this kitchen was such a joy! Collaborating with our interior designer and our wonderful client, we focused on creating a warm, inviting space that feels both functional and inspiring. Since the kitchen occupies a significant portion of the ADU’s footprint, we emphasized bright, warm elements to contrast beautifully with the dark grey concrete floors. To add visual interest, we broke up the symmetry by incorporating floating shelves, which allowed us to bring in more bright white tones and provide a canvas for texture. The Duo tile adds subtle yet engaging depth, keeping the palette muted to let the client’s personal touches—like colorful glassware and lush plants—really shine. We also loved how the high windows frame views of the surrounding trees, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces with natural light and greenery. Despite the kitchen's generous size, the client opted to prioritize open walking space over a larger dining area, making it feel airy and comfortable while still accommodating a table for up to 6-8 people if needed. This thoughtful balance of design and function truly reflects the client’s vision and lifestyle.
